A three hour workshop in somatic experiencing, Contact Improvisation and contemporary partnering.
Who should come?
This afternoon workshop is intended for students with any kind of ongoing movement practice; dancers, actors, yogis, acro-yogis, acrobats, gymnasts, martial artists, movers, athletes, and those who would like to deepen their experience in Contact Improvisation. No dance or Contact experience is required and absolute beginners, with a physical practice, are encouraged to join. No partner is required to come.
What will we do?
-A somatic warm-up focusing on the pelvis and the tail bone.
-Organic pathways to move from standing, down to the floor, and back up to standing with ease and efficiency.
-Solo improvisation considering felt sensation and embodied presence resulting in a body that moves with strength, release, and freedom in conscious, moment to moment choice making.
-Counter balancing and weight sharing with another body.
-Moving the pelvis with flow on to and off of another body.
-Lifts from standing and then from jumping and how to make your body feel lighter when being lifted.
-Under-dancing (supporting) and over-dancing (being lifted) in partnership.
-Watching will be balanced with doing. There will be time for water brakes.

Wear comfortable, movable clothing.
Knee pads, if required. Recommended, but not mandatory.
To practice being fully present with another body in space. To listen more deeply to the moment that the two bodies are co-creating.
